Relating to the medical use of low-THC cannabis by patients with certain medical conditions.

This bill amends the definition of "low-THC cannabis" to mean the plant Cannabis sativa L. that contains no more than 10 milligrams of tetrahydrocannabinols (THC) per dosage unit. It also expands the medical conditions for which a physician can prescribe low-THC cannabis to include chronic pain for which an opioid would otherwise be prescribed, as well as any other debilitating medical condition designated by the Department of State Health Services. The bill also allows the Department to designate additional debilitating medical conditions for which low-THC cannabis can be prescribed. The bill takes effect on September 1, 2023.
