This bill amends RCW 46.44.110 to address compensation for tow truck operators who are dispatched by law enforcement or other agencies to clear public roadways or impound/recover vehicles. Any person operating a vehicle or moving an object in an illegal or negligent manner on a public highway is liable for all damages sustained by the highway, bridge, or other state property, as well as the payment of towing, recovery, impound, and storage charges to the registered tow truck operator. 2. The towing, recovery, impound, and storage fees incurred by the tow truck operator must be paid directly by the insured or as a third-party claim under the liability insurance coverage of the insured, and the rates charged shall not exceed the amounts established under the fee schedule adopted under RCW 46.55.118.
