This bill includes nurse practitioners as a provider of services for purposes of collaborative drug therapy management and makes the authorization for pharmacists to perform such management permanent. Specifically, it amends the education law to allow nurse practitioners, in addition to physicians, to enter into written agreements or protocols with pharmacists to authorize collaborative drug therapy management within certain healthcare facilities. The bill also removes the sunset provision that would have expired the authorization for pharmacists to perform collaborative drug therapy management in July 2024, making the authorization permanent.
