This bill amends the education law to include nurse practitioners as providers of services for the purposes of collaborative drug therapy management, and makes the authorization for pharmacists to perform such management permanent. Specifically, the bill allows pharmacists employed by or affiliated with a healthcare facility or selected community practice site to enter into written agreements or protocols with physicians or nurse practitioners to engage in collaborative drug therapy management, subject to certain experience and licensing requirements. The bill also requires disclosure of the existence of such agreements and the patient's right to choose to participate in the collaborative management.
