This bill: - Requires the Office of Broadband to develop and maintain a state broadband map indicating the addresses of serviceable locations and capability of broadband service in the state, using the national broadband map as a basis and incorporating additional state-level data. - Requires broadband service providers and other entities that own or operate broadband infrastructure to submit updated data on broadband infrastructure deployment, including locations and speeds of available satellite service, to the Office twice per year to assist in developing and maintaining the state broadband map. - Allows the Office to contract with private entities or third-party consultants to develop and maintain the state broadband map, investigate and verify broadband availability, and supplement mapping data from state agencies. - Adds the development and maintenance of the state broadband map as an authorized use of the Statewide Broadband Account. - Exempts from public disclosure the trade secrets and financial and commercial information, including infrastructure routes and addresses, submitted by businesses to the Office for the state broadband mapping efforts. The overall purpose of the bill is to improve broadband mapping and data collection in the state to better inform broadband deployment and expansion efforts.
