AI Summary

This bill amends existing law to increase the reimbursement rate for providers of certain healthcare services under the Maryland Medical Assistance Program, the Maryland Children's Health Program, and the Community First Choice Program. Specifically, it requires the Governor's proposed budget for fiscal year 2024 to include a 10% rate increase, up from the previous 4% rate increase. The bill also requires nursing homes to annually submit a cost report to the Maryland Department of Health, which must include documentation of wage disbursement and other information. The Department may take enforcement action, including recouping funding, if a nursing home fails to submit an accurate cost report or pay the required wages. Additionally, 90% of the funding increase for fiscal year 2024 must be used to fund wage increases for healthcare workers, nursing home staff who provide direct care, and nursing home support staff who provide direct care.
