AI Summary
This bill authorizes the Maryland Department of Natural Resources to allow individuals to sponsor, conduct, or participate in a random contest during the month of January that has the objective of harvesting female deer. The purpose of this is to help manage the deer population in the state. The bill specifies that these random lottery awards shall be limited to three individuals per contest. The existing law prohibited the sponsorship, conduct, or participation in contests organized in the state that have the objective of killing certain wildlife, such as coyotes, foxes, or raccoons, for prizes or monetary rewards, but this bill creates an exception for the female deer hunting contests.
