This bill establishes a Silver Alert system in Minnesota to aid in the identification, location, and recovery of missing persons who are senior citizens with cognitive impairments such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or traumatic brain injury. The Commissioner of Public Safety will coordinate with local law enforcement, media broadcasters, and other stakeholders to develop criteria and procedures for the system. The system will include state and local agencies, broadcasters, and other private entities that volunteer to participate in disseminating urgent public information. The bill also creates a misdemeanor offense for knowingly making a false report that triggers an alert under this system.
