This bill amends the tax law to suspend the imposition of the compensating use tax on heating fuels sold during the winter months (December, January, and February) for certain low-income senior citizens. Specifically, the bill exempts from the retail sales tax the receipts from the sale of heating fuels for home use by persons 65 years old or older whose income is not more than $500 above the qualifying income for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) established by the Social Services Law.
