This bill requires all health plans in Minnesota that provide maternity benefits to also provide comprehensive coverage for the diagnosis and treatment of infertility, as well as standard fertility preservation services. The bill defines "infertility" and specifies the types of infertility treatments and procedures that must be covered, including ovulation induction, in vitro fertilization, and cryopreservation techniques. The bill also limits the cost-sharing requirements for infertility coverage to be no greater than those for maternity coverage, and prohibits certain exclusions, limitations, or restrictions on such coverage. The bill's provisions will take effect on August 1, 2023, and apply to all health plans issued or renewed on or after that date.
