This bill establishes a Psychedelic Medicine Task Force to advise the Minnesota legislature on the legal, medical, and policy issues associated with the legalization of psychedelic medicine in the state. The task force will be composed of various state officials, legislators, and members of the public with relevant expertise. The task force is required to survey existing research on the therapeutic efficacy of psychedelic medicines, evaluate their effectiveness in treating certain mental health conditions, compare their efficacy to current treatments, and develop a comprehensive plan that covers statutory changes, state and local regulation, federal law and policy, and public education related to the legalization of psychedelic medicine in Minnesota. The task force is required to submit two reports detailing its findings and recommendations to the legislature by February 2024 and January 2025.
