Bill Summary

AN ACT relating to payment of assistance to owners of privately owned residential housing within the city of New York

AI Summary

This bill would require any state or New York City agency providing financial assistance to owners of privately owned residential housing in New York City to suspend such assistance to any owner who is listed on the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development's "major problem owner list" until all Class C violations (the most serious housing code violations) are resolved. During the suspension of assistance, the owner would also be prohibited from evicting any tenant for nonpayment of rent or lease violations related to the Class C violations that led to the suspension.
