Bill Summary

This bill relates to persons eligible to hunt with a crossbow. Current law requires the natural resource commission to adopt a rule permitting a crossbow to be used only by individuals with disabilities who are physically incapable of using a bow and arrow under the conditions in which a bow and arrow is permitted. A person must submit an application signed by the person’s physician declaring that the individual is not physically able to use a bow and arrow. The bill allows the person’s physical therapist licensed under Code chapter 148A to sign the declaration on the application.

AI Summary

This bill allows physical therapists licensed under Iowa Code chapter 148A, in addition to physicians, to sign a declaration stating that an individual is physically incapable of using a bow and arrow, which would permit that individual to hunt with a crossbow under the conditions in which a bow and arrow is permitted. Current law requires the declaration to be signed by a physician only.
