This bill establishes a five-year moratorium on the dissolution of any urban rental Mitchell-Lama company, which are affordable housing developments created under the Mitchell-Lama housing program. It also directs the New York State Homes and Community Renewal, in consultation with the New York City Department of Housing Preservation, to conduct a study on the preservation, sustainability, reform, and growth of the Mitchell-Lama housing program, with the goal of making recommendations to address the affordable housing needs of New York's growing population. The bill provides for a preliminary report within two years and a final report with recommendations within four years of its effective date.
