This bill amends the Social Services Law to increase the standards of monthly need and home energy grant amounts for persons receiving public assistance. Specifically, it raises the monthly need standard from $158 for a single person to $263, and increases the home energy grant from $14.10 to $47 for a single person. These changes are effective starting July 1, 2024, and the standards will be adjusted annually thereafter based on cost of living increases determined by the federal Social Security Administration.
