This bill extends the duty-free treatment provided for imports from Haiti under the Caribbean Basin Economic Recovery Act until September 30, 2035. The bill amends the existing law to increase the applicable percentage requirement for duty-free treatment from 50% to 60% and extends the quantitative limitations on preferential treatment to not more than 1.25% of the aggregate square meter equivalents of all apparel articles imported into the United States. The bill also removes the requirement that the duty-free treatment be extended in each of the 16 succeeding 1-year periods, allowing for more flexibility in the extension of the program.
