This bill extends duty-free treatment provided for imports from Haiti under the Caribbean Basin Economic Recovery Act (CBERA) until September 30, 2035. Specifically, it extends the "applicable percentage" requirement for Haitian apparel articles to 60% or more during the period from December 20, 2017 to September 30, 2035. It also extends the quantitative limitations on the preferential treatment to 1.25% of the aggregate square meter equivalents of all apparel articles imported into the United States in the most recent 12-month period. Additionally, the bill requires the President to make necessary modifications to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States to restore any special tariff treatment that was previously lost for eligible articles from Haiti.
