This bill establishes an academic acceleration pilot program to be implemented in six school districts or charter schools during the 2024-2025 to 2026-2027 school years. The program requires participating districts to automatically enroll students who meet certain academic criteria in advanced coursework, such as Advanced Placement (AP) courses or concurrent enrollment courses. Participating districts must also prioritize recruiting and training teachers of color, provide notification and support to students and parents, and collect and report data on the program's implementation. The bill appropriates funds to the Department of Education to administer the pilot program and cover expenses such as teacher training, instructional materials, and student tutoring.
