This bill establishes the New York State Local Emergency Services Account, which will be used to reimburse county and municipal fire, police, and emergency medical services departments, as well as volunteer fire companies, departments, districts, and non-profit emergency medical services, for expenses related to procurement of equipment, apparatus, vehicles, goods, services for building renovations, and personal protective equipment. The funding for this account will come from a portion of the revenues collected under Section 186-f of the Tax Law, which were previously deposited into the state general fund.
