This bill aims to amend the state's public records law to clarify that information protected by attorney-client privilege, the work product doctrine, or other legal protections is exempt from disclosure. It also requires state agencies and municipalities to create and implement comprehensive information governance (IG) plans to manage the retention and disposal of documents and data in any format. The IG plans must comply with the state's records retention schedule and be considered public records themselves, with any privileged portions redacted. The Attorney General will be responsible for enforcing these new IG plan requirements.
