This bill requires all public institutions of higher education in Massachusetts to develop and adopt written policies and procedures to accept a score of 3, 4, or 5 on all Advanced Placement (AP) examinations to satisfy degree requirements. The policies must indicate whether the credit will be granted for general education, major, or elective requirements, and include procedures for the transferability of these credits to other institutions. The bill also requires the Board of Higher Education to annually review the AP examination score course granting policies of each institution and report its findings, evidence supporting scores above 3, and any recommendations to the state legislature. The first annual report is due by July 1, 2023, and section 1 of the bill must take effect within 3 months of the bill's effective date.
