This bill aims to address discriminatory police reporting. It introduces a new private civil right of action against individuals who knowingly make false calls to law enforcement or intentionally summon law enforcement officers without reason, in whole or in part due to their belief or perception of the race, color, national origin, ancestry, gender, religion, religious practice, age, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity of the individual or group. The bill also creates a criminal penalty for those who knowingly make a false police report or summon law enforcement officers without reason, in whole or in part due to their belief or perception of the victim's protected characteristics.
