This bill amends the Massachusetts General Laws to require physical and mental health education as mandatory subjects in all grades for all public school students. The mental health education programs must recognize multiple dimensions of health, including the relationship between physical and mental health, to promote student well-being and understanding. Additionally, the bill requires school committees to approve private schools when satisfied that the instruction, including a mental health education program, is as thorough and efficient as in public schools. The bill also provides provisions related to student attendance, transportation, and exemptions from physical education for religious or medical reasons.
