This bill establishes a diabetes action plan within the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. The plan will identify goals and benchmarks to reduce the prevalence and impact of diabetes in the state, and develop plans to reduce the incidence of diabetes, improve diabetes care, and control complications. The department must submit a biennial report to the legislature on the financial and health impacts of diabetes, the effectiveness of prevention and control programs, and any additional actions or funding needs for diabetes-related initiatives.
