This bill aims to expand worker ownership training opportunities by amending Chapter 23H, Section 7, Subsection (i) of the General Laws. It requires the board to ensure that worker-owners of employee-owned businesses, including worker-owned limited liability companies taxed as partnerships, are eligible for training programs offered under the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act. The bill also directs the Training Opportunities Program coordinated by the Department of Unemployment Assistance to approve competent providers to offer training in business ownership skills to eligible unemployed workers, and allows owners of Limited Liability Companies and independent contractors to be eligible for training funds under the On-The-Job program.
