This bill amends the General Municipal Law to add a new section 207-r, which provides a presumption that any condition of impairment of health caused by diseases of the lung, resulting in total or partial disability or death, for certain deputy sheriff members of a retirement system in cities with a population of one million or more, was incurred in the performance of duty. The bill also provides that such deputy sheriffs who are disabled or retired due to lung disease will receive a pension equal to three-fourths of their final average salary. The bill takes effect immediately.
