This bill amends the social services law to allow child protective services (CPS) workers to complete the required training on the fundamentals of child protection through distance learning methods, starting on April 1, 2025. The bill also authorizes local departments of social services to fulfill the training requirement through distance learning, excluding the annual in-service training requirement. The purpose of this bill is to provide more flexibility for CPS workers to complete their mandatory training.
