This bill allows child protective services workers to complete the required training on the fundamentals of child protection through distance learning methods beginning on April 1, 2025. The bill amends the Social Services Law to permit the use of distance learning for the initial three-month training requirement, provided that the participants are in attendance for the duration of the course and able to ask questions of the instructor. Counties will be authorized to adopt local laws, ordinances, or resolutions to enable their local social services departments to fulfill the training requirement through distance learning, excluding the annual in-service training requirement.
