This bill amends the education law to include a faculty or staff member on the board of trustees of community colleges, elected by and from among the faculty and staff of the college. The board of trustees of each community college, except in New York City, will now have 11 members instead of 10 - 9 appointed members, 1 student member, and 1 faculty or staff member. The faculty or staff member will serve a 2-year term and have the same parliamentary privileges as the voting members, including the ability to make and second motions and place items on the agenda. The election of the faculty or staff member will be conducted according to rules and regulations set by the faculty senate or equivalent shared governance body of each campus.
