This bill amends the social services law to require all state and private agencies with mandatory reporters of incidents involving vulnerable people to retrain all staff on reporting such incidents to a 9-1-1 operator and the county district attorney's office. It also requires these agencies to update all written materials, such as training manuals and informational brochures, to reflect this new reporting requirement. The bill also increases the penalty for a mandated reporter who knowingly and willfully fails to report a case of suspected abuse or neglect from a class A misdemeanor to a class E felony.
