This bill, the Energy Emergency Leadership Act, amends the Department of Energy Organization Act to assign new "energy emergency and energy security functions" to the Assistant Secretaries of the Department of Energy. These functions include responsibilities related to energy infrastructure, cybersecurity, emerging threats, supply, and emergency planning, coordination, response, and restoration. The bill also allows the Secretary of Energy, upon request of state, local, or tribal governments or energy sector entities, to provide technical assistance, support, and response capabilities related to energy security threats, risks, and incidents, in coordination with other relevant federal agencies.
