This bill, the Black Maternal Health Momnibus Act, aims to end preventable maternal mortality, severe maternal morbidity, and maternal health disparities in the United States. It establishes a task force to develop strategies and coordinate efforts between federal agencies and other stakeholders to eliminate these issues. The bill also provides sustained funding to address social determinants of maternal health, extends WIC eligibility for new moms, and establishes programs to advance maternal health equity, provide respectful maternity care training, and grow and diversify the perinatal and nursing workforces. Additionally, the bill enhances data collection and research on maternal health, addresses maternal mental health, and improves maternal health care for incarcerated individuals and during public health emergencies. The bill also includes provisions to protect vulnerable mothers and babies from climate change risks and promote maternal vaccinations.
