This bill amends the retirement and social security law to allow certain "dispatcher" members of the New York City Employees' Retirement System (NYCERS) Tier 4 and Tier 6 who were over the age of 30 when they joined the 25-year retirement program to file an election not to participate within 180 days of the effective date of this new provision. The bill also requires the retirement system to post and announce on its website the form and instructions for such an election within 30 days of the effective date. If the retirement system fails to do so, the period for dispatcher members to elect not to participate is extended by 60 days for each month or part thereof that the form and instructions are not posted.
