This bill requires certain health care professionals, including homemaker-home health aides, to undergo cultural competency and implicit bias training. The training curriculum must cover topics such as identifying and understanding implicit biases, communication techniques to account for implicit biases, strategies for mitigating unconscious biases in healthcare decision-making, and understanding health disparities and social determinants of health. The bill grants the Division of Consumer Affairs in the Department of Law and Public Safety the authority to adopt rules and regulations to implement the provisions of the act, which will take effect 180 days after enactment.
