AI Summary

This bill allows public schools, including community schools and STEM schools, to employ or accept as a volunteer a chaplain to provide support, services, and programs for students. The chaplain would not be required to apply for a state teaching license or certification. The bill also requires a criminal records check and registration with the state Department of Education for any chaplain employed or volunteering at a school. The chaplain services would be provided in addition to, but not in lieu of, school counselor services. Schools can establish their own requirements and procedures for implementing the chaplain provision.
