Bill Summary

This bill requires a retailer who sells goods or services from a physical location to accept cash as payment in a transaction amounting to $2,000 or less during a face-to-face sale with a consumer, unless the person is otherwise prohibited by law from accepting cash. A retailer who violates this requirement is subject to a civil forfeiture of $200 to $5,000. For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as an appendix to this bill.
