This bill establishes an Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) leadership institute within the State University of New York (SUNY) to foster the success of AANHPI leaders at the university president and president's cabinet level. The institute will develop various initiatives, including candidate identification and recruitment efforts, search committee training, professional development, and other programs deemed necessary to support AANHPI leaders in higher education. The bill also creates an eight-member advisory council to provide guidance and advice to the institute. The executive director of the institute will report annually on the institute's activities to the Governor, the Assembly Speaker, and the Senate Majority Leader.
