This bill waives tuition, maintenance fees, student activity fees, and required registration or matriculation fees at public institutions of higher education in Tennessee for dependent children of veterans who are residents of the state and have a 100% permanent and total service-connected disability. To be eligible, the dependent child must be under 23 years of age, have the necessary qualifications for admission, and be enrolled as a full-time student in a specific degree or certificate program. The bill also requires public institutions to publish notice of this veterans' dependents' education benefit program in their catalogs and class schedules, and the information is subject to annual review by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission's veterans' education division. The provisions of this bill apply starting in the 2024-2025 academic year.
