This bill requires the New Jersey Department of Children and Families (DCF), in collaboration with the Departments of Health, Human Services, and Education, to publish information on early childhood mental health on its website and disseminate it to social workers, teachers, and child care workers whose primary work involves serving children five years old or younger. The information must cover the importance of early childhood mental health awareness, appropriately relaying mental health concerns to parents or guardians, and referring them to state or community resources to assess a child's mental health needs. The departments are also required to coordinate on the dissemination of this information and adopt rules and regulations to implement the provisions of the bill, which will take effect no later than 360 days after enactment.
