This bill expands parental bereavement leave for certain state employees in Maryland. It provides that state employees are entitled to use up to 10 days of paid leave within 60 days after the death of their child, and up to 60 days of paid leave within 60 days after experiencing a stillbirth or the death of their infant. The bill also prohibits state entities from requiring employees entitled to parental bereavement leave to use any other paid leave available to them. The bill specifies that it applies to all employees, including temporary employees, in the executive, judicial, and legislative branches of state government.
