The utilities must notify customers who opt-in to receive such notifications, in a format requested by the customer, which may include an autodialed telephone call, text message, or email alert. The notifications must include information on the location and estimated length of the service outage, contact information for the utility and emergency services, and any relevant updates as the situation progresses. The bill also allows other state, county, or municipal entities to disseminate the information provided by the utilities.
