This bill prohibits public institutions of higher education in New Jersey from entering into "sports wagering partnerships," which are defined as agreements with companies that offer sports betting for advertising purposes within the institution's facilities, digital content, or broadcasts. However, there are exceptions: foundations related to these institutions can enter into such partnerships as long as they do not directly advertise or market to enrolled students, meaning advertising at on-campus or associated off-campus locations, or electronic marketing specifically targeting students, is forbidden. Additionally, partnerships with casino or sports wagering licensees for academic purposes or to provide students with experiential learning opportunities are also permitted.
