This bill allows public bodies in New Jersey to conduct meetings by electronic means, either in whole or in part, regardless of whether there is a declared state of emergency, public health emergency, or disaster emergency. It removes the previous requirement that such electronic meetings only be permitted during declared emergencies. The bill also allows public bodies to provide electronic notice of meetings instead of the typical adequate notice required, as long as they limit the business conducted to matters necessary for the continuing operation of government and related to the emergency. The Department of Community Affairs and State Board of Education can adopt rules and regulations to effectuate the purposes of the bill.
