Bill Summary

The bill extends the time period required for public notice of certain land use applications from 10 days to 21 days. Currently, section 7.1 of P.L.1975, c.291 (C.40:55D-12) requires a developer to give written notice of a public hearing concerning certain applications for property development at least 10 days prior to the scheduled public hearing to owners of all real property within 200 feet in all directions of the property for which the public hearing is being held in addition to the following people and entities in certain circumstances: the clerk of any municipality located within 200 feet of the subject property; the County Planning Board; the New Jersey Commissioner of Transportation; the State Planning Commission; and public utilities, cable television companies, or local utilities. The bill amends section 7.1 of P.L.1975, c.291 (C.40:55D-12) to require that notice of public hearings be given at least 21 days before the scheduled public hearing.
