This bill requires insurers, mutual benefit societies, and health maintenance organizations in Hawaii to provide coverage for standard fertility preservation services for persons who may undergo medically necessary treatment that could cause iatrogenic (medically induced) infertility. The bill defines "standard fertility preservation services" and prohibits the use of prior diagnosis or treatment as a basis for excluding or limiting such coverage. The bill also prohibits discrimination based on the individual's expected lifespan, disability, medical dependency, or other health conditions. This coverage mandate applies to policies, contracts, plans, and agreements issued or renewed after December 31, 2024, and takes effect on December 31, 2050.
