This bill requires insurers, mutual benefit societies, and health maintenance organizations in Hawaii to provide coverage for standard fertility preservation services for individuals who may undergo medically necessary treatment that could cause iatrogenic (medically-induced) infertility. The coverage must be provided for policies, contracts, plans, and agreements issued or renewed after December 31, 2024, and cannot exclude or limit coverage based on prior diagnosis or treatment, or discriminate based on the insured's expected lifespan, disability, or other health conditions. The coverage must be based on clinical guidelines from the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
