This bill requires the Hawaii Department of Education to develop and implement a statewide Holocaust and genocide curriculum plan for public school students in grades 8 through 12, with a minimum of 6 hours of instruction on the Holocaust and other documented genocides. The curriculum must cover the history of the Holocaust, antisemitism, racism, and human rights violations, and help students understand the ramifications of intolerance. The bill also allows the department to accept gifts, grants, and donations to support the development and implementation of the curriculum, and appropriates funds for this purpose.
