This bill requires the Department of Education to develop and implement a statewide Holocaust and genocide curricula plan for public school students in a grade and age-appropriate manner. The curriculum must cover the history of the Holocaust, including information on the Nazi atrocities, Jewish and non-Jewish resistance, and post-World War II trials, as well as other documented genocides such as the Armenian Genocide, the Famine-Genocide in Ukraine, the Rwandan Genocide, and atrocities in Cambodia, Bosnia, Sudan, and Darfur. The bill also appropriates funds for the development and implementation of the curricula and requires the Department of Education to submit a progress report to the legislature.
