This bill, the "Second Amendment Preservation Act", would: 1) Preempt all local firearms ordinances in Mississippi, prohibiting any local government from regulating the sale, purchase, ownership, use, or transportation of firearms, ammunition, and related supplies, except as provided in state law. 2) Prohibit any local government lawsuits against firearm or ammunition manufacturers for lawful design, marketing, or sales. 3) Bring forward existing state laws on concealed carry licenses, including the process for obtaining a license and where license holders can carry firearms. 4) Declare that all federal laws, orders, or regulations that infringe on the right to keep and bear arms are invalid and unenforceable in Mississippi. It would prohibit state officials from enforcing such federal actions and allow private lawsuits against any attempts to enforce them. The bill is aimed at preserving and protecting Second Amendment rights in Mississippi by limiting local regulation and preventing federal restrictions on gun ownership and use.
