This bill establishes the hunger-free campus grant program in Tennessee, which provides grants to higher education institutions to address student hunger. The bill defines "higher education institution" to include public universities and colleges as well as private postsecondary institutions accredited and domiciled in the state. To be eligible for a grant, an institution must have or partner with a campus food pantry and establish a hunger task force that includes student members. Grant funds must be used to develop student meal credit donation or voucher programs, provide financial assistance to campus food pantries, and raise awareness of food insecurity resources. Awarded institutions must also study and report annually on their efforts to address campus hunger.
